Etches Park Redevelopment Project Completion

Vextrix is thrilled to announce the completion of our rail depot development project at Etches Park! Etches Park is a railway traction and rolling stock maintenance depot operated by East Midlands Railway, located in Derby.

Vextrix was appointed to provide Quantity Surveying, Contract Administrator, and Project Management services on this impressive and complex project of extension and enhancement works for our client, East Midlands Railway (EMR), and has seen the project through from conception to completion. It was a pleasure to have been part of the team delivering the scheme alongside EMR.

The scheme covered the redevelopment of the North and South sheds of the existing depot, including:

  •  The extension of underframe carriage wash/inspection
  •  A new office block for staff
  • A new shed extension for the new fleets of trains from Hitachi
  • A new OLE test road
  •  Improvements to train fuelling systems, reducing train fuelling time from 30 minutes to 10 minutes
  • A new train wash system

The Strength of Team Collaboration

Based on-site, Roger Graham, Project Manager, describes why the strength of the team collaboration was key to the successful delivery of the scheme.

"Through collaboration with both the contractor and the EMR delivery team, including the operations team, we had a great team of people representing all the different functions at the depot, with a great can-do attitude. We’ve had a great relationship, and I’m proud we came together as a team to work towards the common objective, which was to make this beautiful facility."
