Net Positive
Our commitment to working as a net positive business has been our priority from the very beginning.
Our commitment to working as a net positive business has been our priority from the very beginning.
We believe that by working in an ethical and professional way, it can have a positive social value impact within the communities in which we work, the people we work with and the environment.
Our whole organisation is dedicated to adding Social Value wherever we work, and we proactively try to make a difference in any way we can. From engaging with local charities offering professional advice, to fundraising, to developing new ways of working to ensure we are adding value to our work, everyone has a part to play and is fully committed to doing so.
Developing and assisting the new generation coming into the industry, has always been a clear passion of Vextrix to ensure opportunities can be given to those who need them.
Over the past ten years, we have continued to develop links with local colleges and universities to offer industrial year out placements and work experience for those studying towards relevant qualifications, recruiting three members of our Liverpool staff as full-time employees after they completed a successful year out.
“Whilst completing my GCSE’s at Fred Longworth school, my dad introduced me to the construction industry – he said I could buy a nice car! Whilst at school, Vextrix came in to do a careers day, which is where I met the team. I applied to complete a 6 week work experience over the summer holidays and I was then offered a job! I am now studying Level 3 BTec Civil Engineering at Salford College. My plan is to go to university to study a Quantity Surveying degree where I’ll work at Vextrix for 4 days and go to uni 1 day a week. I pan to continue my studying to become a chartered Quantity Surveyor in the future.”
Developing relationships with those in our local community who need that extra support is important to us to be able to share the expertise of our staff and offer support through volunteering and fundraising.
Alongside our charity partner, we can engage with young people to offer advice and support to build a better future for themselves.
This is our first year of reporting on our journey to achieving Net Zero by 2030. Our vision is clear, through continued learning from everyone within the business, our personal actions at home, within the workplace and working with our clients, it can have a huge impact to the environment. We have made a commitment to upskill every member of our team so that they can be part of our journey to take ownership and accountability of our planned targets.
We’ve already made great strides towards our goal but we’re not there yet. As we grow, we will continue to learn, refine, and challenge the way we do things internally and working on projects.
Following a recent assessment process, we have been awarded Investors in Diversity for Small Business. The recommendation programme will be used to support our goal to be a Diverse and Inclusive organisation that provides opportunities through recruitment, and for employees already in the business.
Vextrix is also a Disability Confident Employer; we are committed to ensuring disabled people and those with long-term health conditions have the opportunity to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations.
